Travelling with kids, Italy 2015

Italy trip was in October 2015. Our plan was Rome-Lake Como – Milan. And although we heard horror stories of how it might be too cold in october already, I did my research and we stuck to our plan. And I’m glad we did!! Our trip was 15 days – and ended on October 22nd in Milan, from where we flew back to India via Dubai with Emirates. The last three days in Milan were tough – it was super cold suddenly and it was raining and even a hail storm. We did love Milan though and all the shopping!! :)
I had managed to convinced V to get us a double stroller – and I had a few fancy ones on the list, unfortunately, In India we only found Chicco. Fortunately though, it worked out well and was steady enough for the trip and lasted us well. The rain cover was a big help in Milan – and Myra would keep saying ‘momma, we are in a tv!’ 😀

Rome was amazing and remains one of our fav cities, so much to do in a day and a lot of fun! Lake como – it’s more gorgeous than any pictures you will see anywhere. It’s a stunning place and it’s huge. We stayed in Bellagio – the main, the most busy town. Stayed right in the centre at a airbnb and it was perfect. The many stairs can be a bit of pain, but we managed quite well mostly with our stoke baby carrier and Myra walked everywhere with us. The day would start with a nice breakfast at the apartment and we would head out with our babies and a backpack for the day – we explored many nearby towns by the boat. One can also get a private tour on small, fancy boats – which we really wanted to do, but somehow the timings of the same did not work for us. Myra loved being on the big boats and throughly enjoyed lake como. There were nice lunches by the lake, gellatos, strawberry and cream treats, long long walks, some amazing food, catching up with friends and cheese and wine of course! :) such a happy time. Mostly. Well, there are always very tough times too with kids – crying, tantrums, massive poopoos at the most inconvenient and embarrassing of times, but V and I worked like a team. It was us against the kids and we just had to make it work. We had to win and save the day. There were some moments of pure frustration, but I can’t really remember the details thankfully, and so they don’t matter. :) We all remember all things good and fun we did and we are definitely going back to Italy soon (ok, maybe not that soon, but soon enough)!

Havelock Island

These are pictures from our Trip to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. I had been there already as a kid and always wanted to go back to this place with V. We went to Havelock Island, which is one of the very many islands there and also one of the most gorgeous ones. Getting to Havelock is a bit of a task though! Havelock has lots of options for accommodation – and we stayed at the Barefoot Resort – which is a bit expensive but very lovely! It’s the best on the island and apart from the travel arrangements, where we felt they over charged us and it caused some misunderstandings, we felt it was a great choice of stay, especially with Myra.

The beach is pristine, the food was amazing and the staff was lovely!

Myra loved the beach and wanted to sit in the water all day!! :)

INSEAD 5 year reunion

IMG_1392

We (and I’m saying this on behalf of many people) had been waiting for and planning this since forever, and then we forgot about it – got busy jobs, moved on in life, got married, had babies, always keeping in touch and yet not with everyone – not so much anyways, and more so with some than others. Friends had become family away from family… People had become closer, deeper friends after school, once they moved to the same cities.
Some had grown a bit apart – time, distance, life.. But then when the time came closer – it felt like we had been waiting for and planning this since the day we left Fontainebleau. Left those crazy happy INSEAD days behind us. :) Such is reunion time.
After our first few days in in paris we drove down to Fonty for the big INSEAD 5 year reunion. Many of us were parents now, many married, newly engaged or even divorced.. It didn’t matter – we were all coming to Fonty after years, from many different parts of the world. It was just wonderful to see old faces with who as such one does keep in touch over Facebook (or sees updates from!), but that warm fuzzy feeling that you get with old friends in an old place – is just something really really nice. Here are some moments from the time we all met again…IMG_1401 copyIMG_1413IMG_1412IMG_1407IMG_1405 copyIMG_1403IMG_1437IMG_1436IMG_1433IMG_1431IMG_1422IMG_1420IMG_1418IMG_1416IMG_1414IMG_1468IMG_1466IMG_1465IMG_1462IMG_1460IMG_1453IMG_1503IMG_1501IMG_1498IMG_1496IMG_1493IMG_1492IMG_1491IMG_1485IMG_1476IMG_1471IMG_1532IMG_1531IMG_1530IMG_1529IMG_1527IMG_1525IMG_1523IMG_1513IMG_1507IMG_1504
