Travelling with kids, Italy 2015

Italy trip was in October 2015. Our plan was Rome-Lake Como – Milan. And although we heard horror stories of how it might be too cold in october already, I did my research and we stuck to our plan. And I’m glad we did!! Our trip was 15 days – and ended on October 22nd in Milan, from where we flew back to India via Dubai with Emirates. The last three days in Milan were tough – it was super cold suddenly and it was raining and even a hail storm. We did love Milan though and all the shopping!! :)
I had managed to convinced V to get us a double stroller – and I had a few fancy ones on the list, unfortunately, In India we only found Chicco. Fortunately though, it worked out well and was steady enough for the trip and lasted us well. The rain cover was a big help in Milan – and Myra would keep saying ‘momma, we are in a tv!’ 😀

Rome was amazing and remains one of our fav cities, so much to do in a day and a lot of fun! Lake como – it’s more gorgeous than any pictures you will see anywhere. It’s a stunning place and it’s huge. We stayed in Bellagio – the main, the most busy town. Stayed right in the centre at a airbnb and it was perfect. The many stairs can be a bit of pain, but we managed quite well mostly with our stoke baby carrier and Myra walked everywhere with us. The day would start with a nice breakfast at the apartment and we would head out with our babies and a backpack for the day – we explored many nearby towns by the boat. One can also get a private tour on small, fancy boats – which we really wanted to do, but somehow the timings of the same did not work for us. Myra loved being on the big boats and throughly enjoyed lake como. There were nice lunches by the lake, gellatos, strawberry and cream treats, long long walks, some amazing food, catching up with friends and cheese and wine of course! :) such a happy time. Mostly. Well, there are always very tough times too with kids – crying, tantrums, massive poopoos at the most inconvenient and embarrassing of times, but V and I worked like a team. It was us against the kids and we just had to make it work. We had to win and save the day. There were some moments of pure frustration, but I can’t really remember the details thankfully, and so they don’t matter. :) We all remember all things good and fun we did and we are definitely going back to Italy soon (ok, maybe not that soon, but soon enough)!

Myra Turns 3!!!

myra chota pero

Our little Myra monkey turned 3 on June 28th. In these three years she has made us so grateful for life. She is thoughtful, bright, adventurous and curious – but not reckless and is rather cautious. She loves consistency just like I do and even more! She is an amazing sister to little Avu and likes to protect her and share (although there is always room there for more :) ) She loves Mickey Mouse and making her own chocolate milk and then finishing it on the count of 10, she loves playing with us, she loves magic and laughing, and just fills the air with so much joy that no one around her can be untouched by it.

Myra – you are our life and soul baby, thank you for coming into our lives and giving us this opportunity to be a part of your bigger journey in life. You are a sweet and loving girl and your strong, beautiful soul just shines so brightly that.. that i just want to thank you really. We love you to bits and hope you always and forever remain happy, healthy and wise. And may you always believe in magic. :)

Diwali in India

It’s lil Avika’s first Diwali and also the first for Myra that she will remember. Apart from the usual hogging on the great food and sweets, we did the usual laxmi pooja, where Myra contributed and sang ‘om jai jagdish‘ along with us and it was the cutest ever, after which she gave us all her blessings. She does this thing where she will put her hand on your head! :)
Later, we went down in the building and saw the fireworks etc. It was all quite nice, except I was both disappointed and scared of all the noise and the big stuff people were bursting. As for us – I lit one single ‘phuljhadi‘. Myra was propped on a stool and she thoroughly enjoyed watching all the craziness. :) She also wished everyone a ‘Happy Dila-wi’!!! :)

Avika – Rays from the sun, Beautiful like a rose and strong like earth.

We had a few names and V specially loved this one. If it was just left to me – apparently, I had thrown options for vote while the operation for delivery was going on – to the drs and nurses!! Oops, how fun!! 😉

Havelock Island

These are pictures from our Trip to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. I had been there already as a kid and always wanted to go back to this place with V. We went to Havelock Island, which is one of the very many islands there and also one of the most gorgeous ones. Getting to Havelock is a bit of a task though! Havelock has lots of options for accommodation – and we stayed at the Barefoot Resort – which is a bit expensive but very lovely! It’s the best on the island and apart from the travel arrangements, where we felt they over charged us and it caused some misunderstandings, we felt it was a great choice of stay, especially with Myra.

The beach is pristine, the food was amazing and the staff was lovely!

Myra loved the beach and wanted to sit in the water all day!! :)
