Wills Fashion Week 2014

Pero

Pero (photo credit – pero)

5 weeks after Avika’s birth this was my first outing. Last year I was more free, more spirited.. had left Myra home with my folks and spent long hours at shows and all the designer stalls, and mind you, I do it very methodically!! This year was different. I was still going through all my pains and aches and was recovering from a bad allergy that caused a severe rash on my face.

Nevertheless it was fun and I attended a show for Pero. By Aneeth Arora. I really like their stuff – It plays to my weakness – lovely cottons and muslins… I have really grown to admire this brand in the last year or so, since I have discovered it. So I really really wanted to make it. And it was the opening show and V wasn’t gonna come to this with me. He has a whole round of shows to attend himself. So I took my lovely friend Kanika along. :)
Apart from this, there was more action on the fashion scene, pics will come soon.

I wore –
Jumpsuit & T-shirt – Zara
Shoes – Saint G.
Bag – Dissona

Swarovski Create Your Style @ Jabong

Swarovski and Jabong have come together to bring something very very gorgeous and interesting. In India for the first time, it’s Swarovski – Create your style Jewellery, which is selling exclusively on Jabong. The idea is – you get your own gorgeous box of this magic stuff – open it up and it has a look book to help you out and all the elements to go with it, to make it a complete set of a few different looks. Check this out, here’s the Link –

It’s really really cool stuff. I am not usually a big bling loving person, but this collection has my fancy for sure. It’s fun, modern and very versatile. I wore it on diwali day with a very Indian outfit and got tons of compliments!! :)  And anything that gets you lots of compliments  is always a must-get-must-keep!! :)

The launch event for Swarovski Create Your Style @ Jabong was held at The Setz, at The Emporio mall. Amongst the jewellery on display, they also had a diy jewellery bar – where you could make your own stuff! Food and drinks were great and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening out!! I did take lil Avika with me and she happily slept through the entire evening, making sure mommy gets to let her hair down. Thank you baby. Oh, just realised this makes it Avika’s first event attended!!! :)

The Bangala Table, a Chettinad affair

‘One is lucky to eat like a Chettiar’ – an old tamil saying

Hosted at The Park Hotel, Delhi, when we were invited by Sumeet for the Book launch, which also promised along with it – a Chettinad thali experience, there was little anyone could to keep this 38 week pregnant me from braving Gurgaon-delhi traffic and be there. And I would totally do it again, mind you, having promised myself that I would not head out more than 10 km away from my hospital.
The food spread was elaborate and absolutely lovely. Wasn’t spicy or overwhelming – it was just right for any palette. We specially loved the Pineapple curry and the sambhar. The who’s who of Delhi was present and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves talking and eating some good Chettinad sappadu!!

The Bangala Table – Flavours and Recipes from Chettinad – A book by Sumeet Nair, Meenakshi Meyyappan with Jill Donenfeld. Photography by Rohit Chawla

– First look at the book cover and it is gorgeous. You open it up to quickly browse and fall in love with the pages (good quality heavy pages, I’m such a sucker for that kinda stuff!!), the photos look amazing and the text looks easy and inviting (to make you actually wanna go through the recipe and cook!!)

The event was great – Sumeet and others involved with The Bangala Table talked passionately about the whole experience of coming up with the book, how it started and what drove their passions. The book and the idea originates  from the heart of Chettinad, Tamil Nadu and a quaint luxury boutique hotel called – The Bangala. It looks so lovely and having now heard and read about it, I have already convinced V that we need to make a trip soon, next time we are in Chennai.

Check it out here –http://www.thebangala.com/index.html

It’s when Sumeet visited this place with his family, that he loved the food so much that he got inspired to write this book. This book is a must have and I can’t wait to try out the recipes myself! Get it here at Amazon – Click the pic below – to get it at a special price –
