Italy trip was in October 2015. Our plan was Rome-Lake Como – Milan. And although we heard horror stories of how it might be too cold in october already, I did my research and we stuck to our plan. And I’m glad we did!! Our trip was 15 days – and ended on October 22nd in Milan, from where we flew back to India via Dubai with Emirates. The last three days in Milan were tough – it was super cold suddenly and it was raining and even a hail storm. We did love Milan though and all the shopping!!
I had managed to convinced V to get us a double stroller – and I had a few fancy ones on the list, unfortunately, In India we only found Chicco. Fortunately though, it worked out well and was steady enough for the trip and lasted us well. The rain cover was a big help in Milan – and Myra would keep saying ‘momma, we are in a tv!’ 😀
Rome was amazing and remains one of our fav cities, so much to do in a day and a lot of fun! Lake como – it’s more gorgeous than any pictures you will see anywhere. It’s a stunning place and it’s huge. We stayed in Bellagio – the main, the most busy town. Stayed right in the centre at a airbnb and it was perfect. The many stairs can be a bit of pain, but we managed quite well mostly with our stoke baby carrier and Myra walked everywhere with us. The day would start with a nice breakfast at the apartment and we would head out with our babies and a backpack for the day – we explored many nearby towns by the boat. One can also get a private tour on small, fancy boats – which we really wanted to do, but somehow the timings of the same did not work for us. Myra loved being on the big boats and throughly enjoyed lake como. There were nice lunches by the lake, gellatos, strawberry and cream treats, long long walks, some amazing food, catching up with friends and cheese and wine of course! such a happy time. Mostly. Well, there are always very tough times too with kids – crying, tantrums, massive poopoos at the most inconvenient and embarrassing of times, but V and I worked like a team. It was us against the kids and we just had to make it work. We had to win and save the day. There were some moments of pure frustration, but I can’t really remember the details thankfully, and so they don’t matter. We all remember all things good and fun we did and we are definitely going back to Italy soon (ok, maybe not that soon, but soon enough)!

Myra had been waiting for her bday more than very eagerly. It had come to a point that every morning she would ask if it’s her b’day? So the anticipation was just too much and the excitement was at it’s peak. She knew her birthday was close and then she knew it was the next day. We woke her up with some balloons and birthday kisses, hugs and happy screams. She though – and i have to admit I am very much like this myself (and i don’t even know if i can explain this properly) – but like she woke up like it was alright, not too big a deal, some seriousness even. And it’s so funny because I would do the same. Anyways, although the start was slow and soft and the smiles were shy, it was all very very exciting soon after. We blew balloons and set the decorations. My folks, sister and grandfather all came down for Myra’s b’day from different cities and that made it so very extra special for her. And Myra was simply thrilled. We then got ready, Myra wore a beautiful white cotton dress and we opened the gifts.
We got her an ice-cream set which makes several flavours of make-do ice-creams in all colours possible and boy, does she love it!!! she also got dolls and dresses and jackets and colour sets and books and doctor sets, amongst many other small and not-so big little gifts.
In the evening we just had Myra’s very close friends, and since it was summer holidays we were glad atleast a few were able to make it. The kids had a blast and danced around in utter joy on their favourite tunes. We hope we can pull off small little intimate parties for as long as we can, because I’m just not ready for the big ones!! We did get a magician guy to come in and he showed tricks for about 45 mins maybe. Myra cried when he asked if she wanted to volunteer for a trick! 😀 Myra was overjoyed to get a mickey mouse cake – chocolate & cherry flavour!! And she danced on ‘chitiyan kalaiyan’ and ‘mickey mouse tunes’ like 50 times!!!! Little Avika was so happy and kicked and let out happy screams and clapped.
Our little Myra monkey turned 3 on June 28th. In these three years she has made us so grateful for life. She is thoughtful, bright, adventurous and curious – but not reckless and is rather cautious. She loves consistency just like I do and even more! She is an amazing sister to little Avu and likes to protect her and share (although there is always room there for more ) She loves Mickey Mouse and making her own chocolate milk and then finishing it on the count of 10, she loves playing with us, she loves magic and laughing, and just fills the air with so much joy that no one around her can be untouched by it.
Myra – you are our life and soul baby, thank you for coming into our lives and giving us this opportunity to be a part of your bigger journey in life. You are a sweet and loving girl and your strong, beautiful soul just shines so brightly that.. that i just want to thank you really. We love you to bits and hope you always and forever remain happy, healthy and wise. And may you always believe in magic.
It’s the best thing ever when your friends visit, specially old ones, when you are new to a place. It’s funny.. we sort of still feel new to the city!! 😀
Yash & Khushali are our very close friends who live in Dubai. Myra was super thrilled to have them as company. With her many stories that she narrated to them and all the fooling around that she did with uncle yash and khoosali aunty, Myra had the best few days. The fact that it was X’mas time made everything that much more special. We spent time at home chilling, went to cyber hub and went for a X’mas brunch to Chez Nini at Meharchand Market.
Myra was super excited to find a whole book of stickers under the tree and uses them very carefully now. She is not very generous in sharing the stickers with her sister or others. We are sure that will happen in time too. She is so adorable!!
Myra wore – Biba for kids
I wore Zara & Marks & Spencers coat

We did what we do best – hogged on the amazing food, drank a lot of wine and made merry!! :))
Chez Nini has closed now, after a successful long stint. The nice friendly ambiance and the gorgeous food will be missed. Chef Nira of Chez Nini has no plans to quit her passion though, she is bringing lots of new exciting things as she has closed door to Chez Nini – the restaurant, but opening many doors to a lot of interesting stuff. Follow her here, to be part of her adventures – facebook page chez nini
Myra loves going to the mall. Well, for the lack of.. let’s say going strawberry picking in nice lush green surroundings (Europe, some day..)!! She loves riding the car at the mall (which was her special thing she even wanted on her birthday), going through shops and we play – ‘where do you see.. such and such item’ games, and she loves running around and it’s just generally a lot of fun with the kids when we go to. We specially like the Select city walk mall at Saket. It has a nice outdoor area and it’s connected to other malls – so you have goodearth, mother care, hamleys, amici, burberry all in one place. And also my new fav restaurant – read below.
Myra is wearing our favourite – Chota Pero & Zara
Avika is wearing – mother care & H&M kids
YUM YUM CHA, SELECT CITY WALK, SAKETOur recent discovery and my new love is the pan again bistro – Yum Yum Cha. It’s a stylish, cute place and on the weekends you will always have to wait for a few minutes. But it’s worth it. We particularly loved the orange drink with kafir leaves, it is so refreshing. The rest of the food was great, and we specially LOVED the noodles. If you find yourself craving some good good food – this is the place. I swear!
